Boston Transition

For Boston EV Carshare Members,

The pandemic, Chevy Bolt recall, and global supply chain challenges have made it a very challenging time to develop an EV carsharing model in Boston. In 2022, however, we have much to be thankful for: with Omicron on the decline, a wave of new EV chargers installed by the City of Boston, and Bolts moving beyond the recall, it’s time to move from a pilot program into an ongoing and publicly-supported affordable EV carsharing service.

E4TheFuture, the Framingham-based clean energy and environmental think tank, has concluded their support of the pilot stage and is keeping the Good2Go name for later use.

Mobility Development has been running the daily carsharing operations throughout the pilot period, and we are excited to continue working with you for the long term on a new service. We will be providing new technical systems that allow more simplicity, reliability and ultimately a more personal touch on the platform itself. This will include introducing a new smartphone app called Miocar Networks (android | iOs), which will improve service quality and allow us to expand more effectively to new neighborhoods.  The Envoy Mobility app you have been using will no longer be in service beginning Monday, February 1st, 2022. Members should be sure to download the Miocar Networks app as soon as possible, and to let our team know if you need help selecting the Boston network.

As we make this transition, Mobility Development is also excited to report:

  • Our Chevy Bolts have received software updates, and are now back in service and ready for use through the Miocar Networks app.
  • Two great new stations go live today in Roxbury, thanks to the City of Boston, near Nubian Station at 30 Ruggles St. and at 353 Dudley. We will be placing two cars in each location initially, but may expand to a second with demand.
  • We intend to expand carsharing service to additional locations in the near future. Stay tuned.

You can continue to count on affordable pricing, because equitable carsharing is what Mobility Development is all about. We will be learning from our successful models in California and New York to help you have the best possible service in Boston, and we look forward to learning from you about how to shape the program for the long haul. Keep an eye out for word about the first community forum we will hold in 2022.

Also keep an eye out about the name for our new service!
